You can find costume jewellery and then there’s costume jewellery, the kind of pieces that inspire delight and present a bit of larger sized-than-lifestyle character. Elie Top’s (formerly of Lanvin and now recognised for his eponymous brand) new jewelry collaboration with Zara definitely matches in the latter category. A capsule of parts that is a tribute to buzzing bees on those delightful days dripping in sunlight—the variety that have the sweetness of honey—was born out of an appreciation of the “The Track of the Earth,” and day-dreamy motifs of the natural entire world. And of training course, accurate to type, the items encapsulate his appreciation of not just lightness of essence, but eye-catching, and even chunky style in costume jewels.

We spoke with the designer about the 16 piece selection, which introduced today. Of his inspiration, he had this to say: “To be genuine, the ‘Song of the Earth’ is rather glorious—and the inspiration beside that was the sunflower. It came to me immediately, it was the first detail I began to sketch. I preferred some thing graphic and rather major due to the fact it is really costume jewellery, and a statement piece is how I like to do it. Then came the bees and a daydream emotion. I was considering lifetime and mother nature.”

Of the whimsical and kinetic items he produced, he also pointed out a one of a kind trait of the bee, which was included into the layout: “I uncovered the bee’s language to each other—they do particular flight lines to converse with just one a further, in loops—and this turned section of the jewellery in a poetic and graphic way.”
